Dough
- 1 cup whole or 2% milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (1/2 stick)
- 1 packet active dry yeast (0.25 ounce)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Cinnamon Sugar Filling
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Cream Cheese Icing
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2–4 Tbsp. milk (add 1 tbsp. at a time)
- Melt Butter: Begin by melting 1/2 stick of unsalted butter. Combine with warm milk in a bowl.
- Activate Yeast: Heat the milk-butter mixture, add sugar and yeast, let sit for 10 minutes.
- Prepare Dough: Mix in egg, salt, vanilla, and flour gradually until soft dough forms.
- Proof Dough: Cover and let dough rise in a warm oven for 10 minutes.
- Make Filling: Combine ingredients for cinnamon sugar filling.
- Roll Out Dough: Roll dough into a rectangle, spread filling, roll into a log, and slice into rolls.
- Bake: Place rolls in a pan, bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes.
- Prepare Icing: Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk for icing.
