  • 12 tbsp milk (as needed for consistency)

For the Chocolate Ganache:

  • 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

For Topping:

  • 2 tbsp peanut butter, melted for drizzle
  • Crushed roasted peanuts or peanut butter cookie crumbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare pans: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and line two 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add wet ingredients: Stir in warm water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla until smooth. Divide batter between pans.
  4. Bake: Bake for 25–28 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  5. Prepare filling: Beat peanut butter and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk gradually for spreadable texture.
  6. Make ganache: Heat heavy cream, pour over chocolate chips, stir until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  7. Assemble: Place one cake layer, spread peanut butter frosting, top with second layer. Pour ganache over the top, drizzle melted peanut butter, and add crushed peanuts or crumbs.
  8. Chill: Chill cake for 30 minutes before slicing for clean cuts.
