  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1¾ cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 can cherry pie filling (21 oz)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 10×15-inch pan.
  2. Cream butter and sugar: In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
  3. Prepare batter: In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until well combined.
  4. Assemble the bars: Spread two-thirds of the batter into the prepared pan. Spoon the cherry pie filling evenly over the batter. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter on top of the cherry filling.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 35–40 minutes, or until the bars are golden brown.
  6. Cool and serve: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan. Dust with powdered sugar before cutting into squares and serving.
